Zürich, 9 December 2024 - Eleven months after its inception, the “Swiss-Viet Economic

Forum (SVEF)” can look back on a successful first calendar year of activities to enhance

Swiss-Vietnamese economic cooperation and to support businesses from both countries to

take advantage opportunities in trade and investment. High-lights - among others - are the

first “Swiss-Vietnamese Economic Forum” held in June 2024 in Zürich, the visit of several

Vietnamese high-level national and provincial delegations to Switzerland or the

strengthening of its cooperation with key partners from the Swiss and Vietnamese business

sectors, governments and academia. Looking forward to 2025, the SVEF - with a sharpened

strategic focus - plans to increase its membership, expand its partnerships, and continue to

engage in networking conferences and events, such as the “Swiss-Vietnamese Economic

Forum 2025” to be held in Zürich and Da Nang (Vietnam) or the participation of the

Vietnamese government in the 54th Annual WEF-Meeting in Davos.

The “Swiss-Vietnamese Economic Forum 2024” marked a significant milestone in the SVEF’s journey, hosting over 300 delegates from Switzerland, Vietnam, European and ASEAN countries. The event saw the establishment of numerous partnerships in key sectors such as technology, education, finance, and manufacturing, along with the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding to drive investment and collaboration.

Additionally, the SVEF played a significant role in fostering relationships between Swiss business and local governments in Vietnam. In 2024, it hosted high-level delegations from the Vietnamese provinces of Can Tho, Vinh Long, and Cao Bang. A seminar for a delegation from Nam Dinh Province was another highlight, culminating in a successful trip of Swiss investors to Nam Dinh in November 2024. This trip was organized in partnership with InnoLab Asia (www.innolab.asia), underscoring the SVEF’s commitment to strengthening Swiss-Vietnamese economic and business relations on all levels.

2025 Highlights

Looking ahead, the Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 dual-event program, designed to further strengthen the economic and cultural ties between Switzerland and Vietnam. Building on the success of the “Swiss-Vietnamese Economic Forum 2024”, its second edition will be held as a two-stage event taking place in June 2025 at the University of Zurich and in November 2025 in Da Nang, Vietnam. Its objective is to bring together leaders from government, business, and academia to foster innovation, sustainability, and mutual growth. “The ‘Swiss-Vietnamese Economic Forum 2025’ is more than an event—it is a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and shared prosperity.” underlined Dr Philipp Rösler, the SVEF’s president. “Our vision for 2025 is to expand the forum’s influence, enabling participants to explore opportunities not only between Switzerland and Vietnam but also within the ASEAN region and beyond.”

With the participation of a high-level government and economic delegation from Vietnam at the forthcoming Annual Meeting 2025 of the WEF, the SVEF - in cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy in Bern - will support the Vietnamese presence in Switzerland to engage with Swiss and Vietnamese companies in Switzerland.

Looking ahead

SVEF’s vision for 2025 centers on advancing sustainability, addressing digital transformation, and strengthening education and workforce development. By integrating Swiss expertise in innovation with Vietnam’s agility and industrial capabilities, the forum seeks to create strong partnerships that benefit both nations while fostering broader ASEAN collaboration.

Vietnam offers unparalleled opportunities for international stakeholders, driven by its rapid economic development, young and dynamic workforce, and strategic position in ASEAN. The country presents extensive potential in sectors such as technology and innovation, sustainability, and education. The SVEF’s vice-president Nguyen Ho Nam noted that, "Sectors like technology, green growth, and education align perfectly with Vietnam’s strategic priorities. By facilitating tailored partnerships through the SVEF, we ensure also from the Vietnamese side that Swiss businesses and institutions can fully leverage these opportunities.”

The SVEF’s Co-Vice President Ivo Sieber highlighted the synergy between Swiss and Vietnamese strengths, underlining that "Switzerland’s expertise in innovation and sustainability seamlessly complements Vietnam’s dynamic growth.”
